The Cincinnati Reds have lost 29-year old righty reliever/starter Chris Smith on waivers to the Oakland A’s. Smith pitched in 32 games (2 starts) for the Reds last year and he was 3-3 with a 4.68 ERA and a 1.39 WHIP. He gave up 57 hits (11 homers) and 26 walks while whiffing 48 batters in his 59 2/3 innings with the Reds last year, so he got hit pretty hard. Smith pitched in 41 games (9 starts) in his two years with the Reds and he was 3-7 with a 5.46 ERA and a 1.58 WHIP. The Reds shouldn’t miss Smith too much moving forward.
